Brewery Tours and Sunday Lunch at Batemans, Wainfleet

Every cottage at Royal Oak Cottages is named after a Batemans ale, so it seemed wrong not to write about the brewery itself. Batemans has been brewing in Wainfleet since 1874, still family-run, now on its fourth and fifth generation. The Visitor Centre at Salem Bridge Brewery is a genuinely good way to spend a few hours of your stay.

Brewery tours

Tours run every day, plus evenings, by prior arrangement. It’s worth booking ahead rather than turning up on spec, especially in peak season. Call the Visitor Centre on 01754 880317 or email vcevents@batemans.co.uk to check availability for your dates.

Sunday tours and lunch

On the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, from April to December, Batemans runs a Sunday tour and lunch at the Woolpack in Wainfleet. It’s a nice way to build a slow Sunday around: a tour in the morning, lunch after, then back to the cottage for the afternoon.

The Visitor Centre is at Salem Bridge Brewery, Mill Lane, Wainfleet, PE24 5AH, a short walk from Royal Oak Cottages. If you’re staying with us for Bands on the Bank or just fancy a quieter visit, it’s easy to fit into a weekend in Wainfleet.
