You don’t need a packed itinerary. A few ideas to weave around plenty of doing-nothing:
Walk the coast and the reserves. Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve, just south of Skegness, is a standout, with marshes, dunes, beach and birdlife under an enormous sky. The quieter inland paths around the market towns make for gentle, unhurried walks.
Find the quiet beaches. Away from the main resort fronts, there are long stretches of sand where you can walk for an hour and meet almost no one. Wrap up, take a flask, and make an afternoon of it.
Slow down in a market town. Traditional Lincolnshire towns reward a wander, with local pubs, independent shops, and the kind of unhurried lunch that stretches into the afternoon.
Watch the sky. It sounds simple, but the Lincolnshire skies are genuinely special: wide, ever-changing, and at their best at dawn and dusk. A coast with this little light pollution is also a fine place for stargazing on a clear night.
Where to stay
